本课程以历史发展阶段为线索，重点阐述中华人民共和国对外关系和对外政策形成、发展与调整的历史过程，对中国对外关系和对外政策发展过程中的重大事件进行较为系统的评述。课程简明扼要地再现了中华人民共和国成立以来中国对外关系发展演变的历史，分别介绍了当代中国外交发展的主要阶段和每个阶段对外关系的基本特点与情况，全面勾画出中国在与世界各国建立相互关系中坚持的基本原则和方针，同时对当代中国的周边外交、多边外交和大国关系等问题也进行概述。

Course Description
Following the historical development stages, this course focuses on the historical process of the formation, development and adjustment of the foreign relations and policy of People's Republic of China, and provides a systematic review of major events during the process. The course succinctly reproduces the history of the evolution of China's foreign relations since the founding of People's Republic of China and introduces respectively the main stages of contemporary China's diplomatic development and the basic characteristics and conditions of foreign relations at each stage. It comprehensively outlines the basic principles and guidelines China adhere to in establishing with countries around the world, and summarizes the issues of contemporary China's peripheral diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, relations between major powers, etc.
