课程简介
植根中华史学传统对几千年甚至几万年的人类历史做出全面的整理，是当前特别重要的工作。在本课程中，我们尝试以政治文明史为线索，提纲挈领地对全球范围内的古今人类文明史做出不同于目前欧美“全球史”的介绍，目的在于使同学们取得思考世界过去和未来时候必须的时空框架和独立视角。课程的讲授将绝对年代学的时间次序和社会治理制度类型学有机结合，对全球意义上的古代社会、传统社会和现代社会在历史时空中的演进过程做出整理。课程强调内容的学术性和知识的可靠性与系统性，并努力对学生的课外阅读做出必要的引导。
Introduction to the Global History of Civilizations H
Course Description
This introductory course for the Global History of Civilizations is designed to provide young students with an in-depth frame instrumental for their further reflections on the World’s past and future. Though the word Global in the title of the course may appear confusing, our approach is different from the Global Histories that focus only or mostly on the Modern World. Instead, we will start from the earliest of Human history in tens of thousands of years ago, only to arrive at the modern age at last. The organizing theme of the course will be the possibilities of societal governance in varied ages in each of which some forms of societal control seemed more practical than others. The course will try its best to introduce to the students new research on topics of interest and will thus provide guidance on extra-curricular readings, for instance.
